The race for the Shenandoah Valley's Sixth Congressional District seat is a three-way affair. Republican incumbent Bob Goodlatte has not only a Democratic challenger, but an independent one as well.

Janice Lee Allen is challenging Goodlatte and Democratic candidate Sam Rasoul for Virginia's Sixth Congressional seat.  Allen is from Harrisonburg and says Goodlatte has accomplished little during his multiple terms in office.

She also fears that Rasoul will work to raise taxes. "There are those individuals in the Democratic field wanting to increase taxes. We must not increase taxes. We cannot afford to do that. The people are suffering themselves. One of these days we're going to wake up and there's no food on the table," stated Allen (I).

Allen says if elected, her first bill will fund research for cancer and alternative energy. She says she would not have voted for the war in Iraq.
