ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - Election Day is just around the corner and volunteers went around Albemarle County on Sunday to encourage people to 'Get Out the Vote' on November 5. The volunteers are knocking on doors around the city and in all six Albemarle districts.

The event was organized by the campaign of Jim Hingeley for Albemarle County’s commonwealth attorney. They also supported the campaigns of other Democratic candidates running for office in the county.

Republican candidates from Albemarle County were also busy getting out the vote on Sunday. The county's Republican committee hosted a ‘Get out the Vote’ rally with several people running for office including those on the ballot for sheriff, the board of supervisors and commonwealth's attorney.

Each had a chance to speak with voters and volunteers. Congressman Denver Riggleman was also there to show his support for the candidates.
