CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - One church in Charlottesville is practicing their faith in a tangible way by helping the city's homeless. The Holy Comforter Catholic Church is assembling blessing bags for the city's homeless. The bags include deodorant, toothbrushes, snacks and more.

"They're things that people would need typically. You know, just sort of grab-and-go things and things they wouldn't necessarily have opportunities to get otherwise, that we take for granted," says Outreach Coordinator Bridget Davis.

Children at the church helped assemble the bags to help teach the values of kindness and generosity.

"It makes me feel like I'm sort of special because lots of people don't get to do this and I am one person that gets to and I really want to help the homeless," said 10-year-old Faustina Blumenfeld.

This is the first time the church is organizing the blessing bags and they hope to make it an annual event. The bags will be delivered to PACEM, an organization that helps the homeless in Charlottesville, in the second week of November.
