Charlottesville Teen Again Collecting Winter Wear for Those In Need
ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - A Charlottesville teenager is again asking the community for coat donations to keep people warm during the colder months.
The Eighth Annual Ashton's Birthday Wish Coat Drive kicks off at Pro Re Nata Brewery in Crozet Saturday, November 2. The family-friendly event will feature live music, raffles, and food.
Organizers ask people to bring a new or lightly-used coat to help those in need this winter.
"We completely understand how much a coat can be, and it’s a big expense on a lot families, and it’s just something we can do to help people," said organizer Ashton Ryan.
Organizers have a goal of gathering 1,000 coats this year. The group already has a list from schools that need coats for children.
Donations are also being accepted at Giant Grocery store, Kroger at Rio Hills, Kroger at the corner of Emmett Street and Hydraulic Road, Kegler's Lanes, and Applebee's at Pantops.
