Man Arrested After Shooting in Augusta County, Charged With Malicious Wounding

Richard Steven Fernandez-Aguilar has been arrested in connection with today’s early morning shooting. He was charged with malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
He is being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.
It’s alleged that Fernandez-Aguilar showed up at the victim’s home and opened fire through a door, striking the victim in the leg. The motive for the shooting is not being released, nor is the relationship; the victim and offender knew each other.
Fernandez-Aguilar was located and arrested at the Staunton Probation and Parole Office (approximately 3 PM) with the assistance of the Staunton Police Department.
