Sentencing Delayed for Teen Shot During Attempted Home Invasion
LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - Sentencing is being delayed for a would-be robber that got shot by a homeowner.
Keith Saunders-Mallory had been set to be sentenced in Louisa Circuit Court Thursday, October 31, but will now have to wait unit January 6, 2020.
According to court records, the 18-year-old pleaded guilty to burglary with intent to commit robbery and street gang participation back on August 26.
Saunders-Mallory kicked in the door of a home in a remote part of the county on May 9, but the homeowner defended his property with a shotgun. He was hit with birdshot in the buttock.
Saunders-Mallory told investigators he was forced to take part in the home invasion in order to leave the gang.
