United Christian Academy Students Practice Graffiti in Charlottesville
STANARDSVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Students from the United Christian Academy in Stanardsville made a trip down to Charlottesville on Tuesday to practice their graffiti. The art class has spent nearly two months learning and practicing this technique.
Their teacher, Tammy Horneck, says Graffiti Alley in Baltimore inspired her to teach the kids about this art form. “Here they're painting 'love thy neighbor' and you know we don't want it to be something that is going to turn people off based on their beliefs, but something that like I think that especially in Charlottesville that is a really good message for our entire community.”
In early October, some of the high school students in Horneck's class also visited Baltimore to see and contribute to Graffiti Alley.
