UVa Basketball Teams Hold Blue-White Scrimmage at John Paul Jones Arena
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - The Virginia men's and women's basketball teams were on the court at John Paul Jones Arena on Saturday for the annual Blue-White Scrimmage.
The event was a chance for fans to see the UVa men on the court and in uniform for the first time since winning the NCAA National Championship in April.
The game was divided into four, 10-minute quarters. The score was reset at halftime, and some of the players switched teams.
Senior Mamadi Diakite hit three 3-pointers in the contest, and scored 13 points.
Junior Jay Huff had a dozen points in the 2nd half alone, along with a number of dunks.
The game was a chance for fans to check out the new Wahoos, like freshmen Casey Morsell, Kadin Shedrick, and Justin McKoy, as well as transfers Tomas Woldetensae, and Sam Hauser.
Hauser will not be able to play this season, due to NCAA Transfer Rules, but the senior is able to practice, and he knocked down a number of big shots in the scrimmage.
The Virginia men will play their first game of the regular season on November 6th at Syracuse, while the UVa women will host Bucknell on November 5th.
