Charlottesville Police Foundation Hosts Annual Appreciation Dinner
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Some of Charlottesville’s police officers are being honored for their dedication and service to keep the city safe. The Charlottesville Police Foundation annual Police Banquet is a chance for the community to show its gratitude to officers.
Charlottesville Police Foundation Executive Director Mindy Goodall says this is an opportunity for officers to be recognized for their excellence over the past year. "At the end of the day they are just men and women they are husbands and wives and mothers and fathers and they do this job, not for the money but they do it because they love this community and they want to serve this community and so this is our chance to say thank you to them.”
Retired, current and police academy officers, along with several sponsors were all in attendance.
Charlottesville Police Foundation Press Release:
On October 12th, the Foundation will host over 200 officers, attendees, and their guests for an evening of dining, good cheer and a formal appreciation of the work they do. The dinner is an opportunity to make sure that everyone on the force hears a resounding "Thank you!" from the community they serve. The evening will include a presentation of awards by the Charlottesville Police Department, highlighting the actions of officers who have responded with creativity, courage and compassion to all manner of challenges, many dangerous. In so doing, the department honors the notion of police work as a “calling,” not merely a job.
We are asking the community to join us in showing gratitude and support. There are three ways to do so, all of which will be recognized in the evening’s program:
- $50 to send one officer to dinner
- $500 to sponsor a full table
- $2,000 to help underwrite the event
Donations can be made at www.cvillepolicefoundation.org/donate/treat-a-cop-to-dinner or sent to:

Along with a donation, the public can consider sending a personal "Message of Thanks" on our website. Messages will be displayed and read by the officers at the dinner.
