ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - On Saturday, the Albemarle County Fire and Rescue Squad spent the day providing safety tips to community members. It's all part of the annual Fire Prevention Week.

During Saturday’s event, firefighters talked about how to make sure your fire alarm is working properly as well as the importance of having an emergency plan in case of a house fire.

"We want to make sure that everybody's fire safe, making sure that they have working smoke alarms in their homes, making sure that they know two ways out of their homes in the event of a fire,” said Assistant Fire Marshal Micaiah Ledford.

The event also included fire trucks, gear and equipment for the kids to check out.
