ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - The Charlottesville Albemarle Airport (CHO) is getting a few upgrades and on Saturday folks had a chance to see what's planned. Staff held an open house in the airport's lobby on Saturday afternoon.

They invited neighbors, vendors, and airport visitors to meet with Melinda Crawford, CHO's executive director. They discussed improvement projects they've completed, projects they're working on right now, and what they have coming up in the future.

"We had over 750,000 passengers come into this airport last year, so we're really like a front door to the community and we need to make sure we really represent our community well. We serve 10 counties. So when we do projects, it's not just for this airport, it's for our whole region,” said Crawford.

The next project coming up for the airport is a multilevel parking deck. That is expected to be completed by September 2020.
