ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is helping high school and college students register for financial aid. PVCC's Financial Aid Office hosted a workshop on Saturday to help students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The application just opened on October first and staff stressed the importance of applying early.

"Completing it early does give families the benefit of knowing what they can afford, what schools they can go to and what kind of aid that they qualify for,” said Valerie Armbright, PVCC financial aid counselor.

The community college will host five more Saturday workshops to help central Virginia students applying for federal aid, not just those looking to attend PVCC. The next Super Saturday event is on November 9.
