CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Some Charlottesville High School students are doing their part to help a community still recovering after Hurricane Dorian. On Tuesday night, the choirs of CHS held a benefit concert along with a silent auction to benefit the public school on Ocracoke Island in North Carolina which has been closed since September.

CHS Choir Director Will Cooke says the concert is a way to help teach students how to give back to those who need it most. "This an opportunity where we can actually do something for someone else, my students we're not able to write a big check but we can show up and do what we do and sing to help other people.”

The choral program at CHS will continue to collect donations for the school through the end of this week.
