STUARTS DRAFT, Va. (WVIR) - On Tuesday, Stuarts Draft Elementary School hosted its Family Literacy Night and used the event to launch One School, One Book. Storyteller Barbara Spilman Lawson made the big announcement.

This year's pick - Shark School Deep-Sea Disaster. One School, One Book aims to get families reading together.

"Kids love it. They absolutely love it. Our participation is pretty good overall I'd say. At least 85% of our families are doing it. The kids that don't read it at home we have volunteers that come up from the high school and read to those kids here so no one's left out,” said Stuarts Draft Elementary School Assistant Principal Abby Arey.

All month long Stuarts Draft Elementary School will have activities that go along with the book. The school's principal says many of the county schools now participate in One School, One Book.
