CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - The Charlottesville Police Department continues to investigate a death at Market Street Park.

Officers responded to a report of a heart attack at the park around 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, October 8. There, they found a man already deceased.

Investigators are working to determine the exact cause of death, though police at this time do not believe there was any foul play.

The Charlottesville Police Department says the man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Authorities believe he was a Charlottesville resident with "no fixed address."


10/08/2019 Release from the Charlottesville Police Department:

On October 8, 2019, at approximately 0647 hours, officers responded for the report of a cardiac arrest in Market Street Park

Upon arrival, officers located a deceased male, currently identified as a Charlottesville resident with no fixed address.

The body was released to the Medical Examiner.

The male’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The case remains under investigation.
