Longhorn Steakhouse Plan Approved by Albemarle County Architectural Review Board
ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - At a meeting on Monday, the Albemarle County Architectural Review Board approved a new building for a new chain restaurant. The board unanimously approved plans for a Longhorn Steakhouse in what is now just a parking lot.
This comes after quite a few requirements and meetings to meet requirements in the area. Monday was the third time the architectural review board (ARB) went over a draft of plans for the steakhouse.
The building will be part of the Route 29 entrance corridor, in the Fashion Square Mall parking lot. In order to meet the landscape design requirements of that corridor, on Monday, the ARB finalized the placement of a tree.
One member of the board, Frank Hancock says the project has been a process. “It’s a nice project its really kind of a redevelopment project along the corridor, taking a site which is predominately surface parking now and adding a building to the corridor.”
Before the meeting on Monday, there was some concern that there was not enough space around the building to provide the required trees. There is no word yet on exactly when construction will start.
