CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - On Saturday, those young and old were tapping their toes and shaking their hips to sounds of blues at the Virginia Blues Festival at IX Art Park. The festival is the final show of the fifth annual Freefall Music & Art Festival by WTJU radio and IX Art Park.

Hundreds of people spent the day enjoying electric, acoustic and classic blues. The event's organizer says the festival is a reminder of how music can bring Charlottesville together.

"Have a good time and connect with one another that’s really the goal of the Freefall series. To bring people together through shared musical experiences and use the power of free live music to make our community a better place to make it like home,” said Nathan Moore, event organizer.

Moore also says the festival is the capstone of the Jazz and Blues Marathon which ends on Sunday, October 6 on WTJU radio.
