'Virginia is for Restaurant Lovers' Campaign Kicks-Off in Charlottesville
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Virginia is putting a delicious new twist on the state's iconic slogan as a way to draw attention to its diverse food industry.
The Virginia Restaurant, Lodging, and Travel Association has now launched the "Virginia is for Restaurant Lovers" campaign. Wednesday's event at Maya in Charlottesville was one of the first stops of the statewide campaign.
According to the association, there are 14,000 restaurants accounting for more than 400,000 jobs and 9% of employment across the state.
"Hope to attach to what is already existing with Virginia is for Lovers and it's a phenomenal campaign, one of the best travel brands in the country, so hopefully we can take that brand and really sort of amplify it in the industry," said Eric Terry of the Virginia Restaurant, Lodging, and Travel Association.
The new brand will also feature a website with information about job listings and different events happening across the commonwealth.
