STAUNTON, Va. (WVIR) - Some people in Staunton got to learn more about some of the men and women in blue on Wednesday.

The public library in Staunton hosted Coffee With a Cop and dozens stopped by throughout the day to talk with Staunton police officers. This is the second time in recent years Staunton participated in the national event, which gives the community a chance to meet their local officers and ask some questions.

"The biggest thing we've got today is people want to know what sort of the biggest problems are in the city," said Staunton Police Sergeant Katherine Shifflett. "People have had lots of questions about what type of crime we deal with."

Sergeant Shifflett says generally they deal with property crimes and that violent crime in Staunton is low.
