CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - The University of Virginia hit a milestone on Wednesday in creating its memorial to enslaved laborers.

A time-lapse video posted on Twitter by UVA shows the first stone slab being put into place.

The slabs will hold the names of workers at the university.

The memorial near the Rotunda will serve as an intentional and symbolic reminder of all the work done by the enslaved community.
