CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - University of Virginia students are finding their inner peace and zen at the first annual Mediation on the Lawn.

The group was led by a meditation guide who directed them to turn off their phones and focus on positive energy. Meditation is a practice of self-reflection and mindfulness.

Student Organizer Gibson Hylton says meditation helps students with the stress of school and improves mental health. "It’s so obvious for a place like UVA for people to come together to like learn and make the world a better place that you would be able to find like a better-ness within in yourself too.”

This was an event to help celebrate International World Peace Weekend.
