Charlottesville Police Investigating Damage to Confederate Statues
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - The Charlottesville Police Department is investigating damages to a pair of Confederate statues in two downtown parks this week.
Both the Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson statues are now missing pieces of granite that appear to have been chipped off. Police are not commenting at this time whether the damage done to the granite of each of the statues is tied to the vandalism that occurred over the weekend.
On Sunday, "1619" was sprayed on the base of the Lee statue in Market Street Park.
