Joanne Boyle's Adopted Daughter is Officially a U.S. Citizen
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - The daughter of former UVa women's basketball coach Joanne Boyle has been granted U.S. Citizenship, following a long process covering two continents.
Boyle introduced 2-year-old Ngoty to the media at a press conference at John Paul Jones Arena in December of 2014.
Ngoty spent a lot of time at basketball practices, and watching games from behind the bench.
But it took another five years to fully complete the adoption process, and included Boyle stepping down as the coach of the Cavs in March of 2018 to focus all of her attention on the adoption.
After help from senators, and trips to Senegal, seven-year-old Ngoty Rain Boyle officially became a U.S. citizen on August 30th.
