ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - A Charlottesville-area nonprofit is celebrating a new partnership with big retail company.

Big Lots held a grand opening for its new store in the old Toys-R-Us building on Branchands Boulevard in Albemarle County Friday, September 13.

At the ribbon cutting, the retailer announced it will partner will Meals On Wheels to donate $5 each time a Big Lots Rewards member redeems a reward.

"It means a lot to us that the community recognizes the work that Meals On Wheels does. We're feeding people, that is a really big deal, especially in this area most people don't realize how many people there are out there that are homebound and they can't feed themselves,” said Meals On Wheels  Executive Director Leigh Trippe.

Big Lots is still looking for community members to join their team.
