CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Several businesses on First Street in Charlottesville are uniting to promote their block off the Downtown Mall.

The First Street Business Alliance (FSBA) formed four months ago as a way for these business owners to promote their shops.

The alliance will host its First Street Fair from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, September 14. A portion of First Street will be closed off for the event.

Twelve stores are participating in the fair, and several shops will offer discounts. FSBA wants people to know folks can find a little bit of everything in their unique corner of downtown.

"We're alive and kicking. I know downtown has gone through a lot in the past few years, but we're a thriving community, we love our community, and we love supporting one another," said Ian Dillard, manager co-founder of Quattro Tizi.

For each purchase at one of the participating shops, you'll receive one entry to a raffle to win one of several gift cards up for grabs.

The First Street Business Alliance says you can expect more programming like this fair in the future.
