New Commission Promotes Minority-Owned Businesses, Holds First Meeting
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - The City of Charlottesville has a new commission dedicated to promoting and valuing minority-owned business, and it held its first meeting on Thursday.
The Minority Business Commission is an offset of a talk force that met for years, but is now an official commission. Thursday's meeting set the vision for what the commission will do.
Major Nikuyah Walker will serve on the committee alongside members of the community. The commission selected Mark Menafee, a compliance manager, as its chair.
The commission will meet on a quarterly basis and the next meeting will be in January.
