New Football Practice Fields Approved by UVA Board of Visitors
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - On Thursday, the University of Virginia Board of Visitors approved a plan to move forward with phase one of a new athletics complex.
The complex will be built on the former site of University Hall, which was demolished earlier this year. The first phase will be two new grass practice fields built for UVA's football team to supplement its current turf fields.
"Phase one is really creating the two grass practice fields, that's really critical for our football team to have," said UVA architect Alice Raucher. "We're the only major team that does not have grass practice facilities, so this is enabling that."
The first phase will also construct an avenue for people to walk through the complex to North Grounds.
