UVA Drops 14 Medical Debt Lawsuits After Washington Post Report
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - The University of Virginia Medical Center has dropped more than a dozen cases over debt collections three days after a Washington Post report.
The Daily Progress reports that UVA's lawyer non-suited 14 cases in Albemarle General District Court on Thursday morning. It comes as UVA has said it will announce changes to its debt collection policies on Friday.
The initial report by The Washington Post revealed UVA sues more than 6,000 patients a year over unpaid medical bills.
