STAUNTON, Va. (WVIR) - Every month, veterans come together for coffee and donuts at the Staunton-Augusta YMCA.

Veterans' Coffee is a chance for those who served to come together and talk. Veteran Herb Harman, who re-enlisted in the U.S. Army following the September 11 attacks, reflected on the sadness of the attacks' 18th anniversary but also the unity it inspired in Americans.

"I believe what it means to me is it shows what Americans can do when we stick together after a crisis," Harman said. "It's been a long war and it's still continuing in many places, however we have made such progress and we've done such great things."

Veterans' Coffee is the second Wednesday of every month at the Staunton-Augusta YMCA. It's open to veterans and people who wish to express their gratitude.
