UVa's Marques Hagans Reflects on Virginia's 2005 Upset of #4 Florida State
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - With Virginia's big football game with Florida State just days away, UVa receivers coach Marques Hagans talked to reporters today about his magical performance in 2005 leading Virginia to a 26-21 upset win over #4 Florida State.
Hagans was the Cavaliers starting quarterback. He completed 27-of-36 passes that night for 306 yards and two touchdowns.
Hagans says he hasn't told the current group of Cavaliers about that game.
"I'm not that guy. I don't bring up old stuff and brag about myself or remember that time I did this, that's not me," says Hagans. "If they can dig it up and watch it than more power to them. I just remember having so much fun that night. We just had so much fun as a team. The crowd was electric and that was a big win for us in a pivital part of our season. That was an awesome night and all the dudes that I played with, the coaches. Just a memorable night for years to come and to this day it's still a memorable game. I'm very appreciative to be a part of it."
Hagans also shared a story today about how his wife, Lauren, attended that Florida State game 14 years ago. It was the first football game she ever went to.
Hagans and his wife were not dating at the time, but she must have been impressed with Hagans' performance on the field.
Hagans says he still carries in his wallet his wife's student ID to get into that football game.
