SCOTTSVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - A nearly 100-year-old theater in Scottsville is getting a major make-over in hopes of keeping it going for another hundred years. The Victory Hall Theater received a fresh coat of paint Saturday afternoon thanks to the Scottsville Center for the Arts and the Natural Environment.

Group members hope to promote a sense of community in Scottsville through arts and music.

"Victory Hall was built in the 1920s and has a long history of being an integral, architectural element to the Scottsville community. In the past there have been graduations here, there have been homecomings and proms," says group president Erin Root.

"The Carter family played here quite frequently and it is rumored that Hank Williams at one point was traveling with them. He played here but they could not advertise it because he had a contract with MGM. Patsy Cline also played here", says Scottsville mayor Nancy Gill.

Victory Hall Theater will host ballet classes for children and adults starting this September.
