Former UVA Soccer & Basketball Player to Open Kindness Café in C'Ville
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Charlottesville is getting a new café and the owner hopes it will help make the community just a little kinder. The Kindness Cafe + Play will employ people with cognitive disabilities.
Katie Kishore, the founder, had the idea when she visited a similar café in North Carolina with her daughters, one of whom has down syndrome. The café will partner with Grit Coffee, BreadWorks Bakery & Deli, Arc of the Piedmont, and the Brooks Family YMCA to make it a reality.
Kishore says it will be an inclusive community space for all. “It is all about all of us, with and without disabilities creating greater connections and creating kinder, healthier communities.”
Kishore says the café will open later this fall at the Brooks Family YMCA.
