STAUNTON, Va. (WVIR) - The Valley Community Services Board hosted a community leaders briefing in Staunton on Thursday night.

The VCSB provides a variety of mental health, substance abuse, and intellectual disability services. On Thursday night, the board talked to a room of elected officials to make sure they know the services VCSB provides and the needs in the community.

"Our elected officials particularly are the ones that are in a position to be impactful in terms of funding sources, regulations that might be in need of another look, and reconsideration for change," said VCSB Chair Phil Floyd. "Even just being a voice, sometimes when there isn't one."

Organizers say they hope to make the VCSB community leaders briefing a yearly event.
