ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - An Albemarle County tubing company is giving hundreds of University of Virginia students the chance to spend some time out on the water.

James River Reeling & Rafting hosted the UVA Tubing Trip 2019 at Hatton Ferry on Sunday. Packed buses brought more than 650 students down to the river for a relaxing four-mile float.

"The students are coming in here because they look at Reeling & Rafting as an adventure and that is something we offer them to be able to come out here and relax from school and to be able to enjoy themselves on a day outing,” said Ron Lewis, employee.

Participants brought coolers full of drinks and snacks for their float down the river. They finished up their trip under the bridge at James River Reeling & Rafting in Scottsville.
