CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Wide receiver Hasise Dubois is expected to play a big role for the Virginia football team this season.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound senior was second on the team with 52 catches for 578 yards last year, and he also grabbed five touchdowns.

The stats were a big leap forward from his sophomore season, but head coach Bronco Mendenhall says Dubois really shines when it comes to contested catches.

"There are players who are all over him daily, and he just keeps coming down with the ball," says Mendenhall.  "He was consistent a year ago. He's at a similar level of consistency now with contested catches. That's hard to do, and that's where he's taken the biggest jump."

Dubois adds, "Me going out there and out-physicaling them is a big part of my role, and it'll help encourage the other guys. As long as I can go out there and be very physical, I'll be able to do my job, get better, and go to work."

The Cavaliers start the season next Saturday at 7:30 PM at Pittsburgh.
