ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - A nonprofit in Albemarle County received a special gift to help people who need service dogs. On Friday, Scott Wagner Chiropractic and Sports Medicine presented a check for $5,000 to Service Dogs of Virginia.

The organization trains and places service dogs with people who have disabilities. Each service dog can cost upwards of $40,000 to train over a two year period.

"We rely on these kinds of sponsorships because we don't charge our clients for a dog. So it really helps us do exactly what we do which is provide a dog to someone with a disability to make their lives easier,” said Peggy Law, Service Dogs of Virginia founder.

As a ‘thanks’ for his continued support, Service Dogs of Virginia named two of its therapy dogs in honor of Scott Wagner.
