CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - There is a sad update from the search for a missing pet in Charlottesville. A missing dog from Sunday's Pet Paradise fire has been found dead.

Bailey was found around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening by a Pet Paradise employee about 1.5 miles from the resort. He and one cat, Izzy, have been missing for two days. 

Pet Paradise says it will work closely with Bailey's family to ensure comfort.

We at Pet Paradise are deeply saddened by the passing of Bailey. Bailey was found deceased around 7:30 p.m. by a Pet Paradise employee near the railroad tracks about 1.5 miles from the resort. Pet Paradise staff transported Bailey to Greenbrier Veterinary Hospital. We are devastated by this loss and our hearts go out to Bailey’s family. Pet Paradise will work closely with Bailey’s family to ensure their comfort during this difficult time. We want to thank the Charlottesville community for their assistance searching for the three pets that escaped during the fire, and we thank everyone for their support as Bailey’s family heals from this loss.
