ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - Albemarle County is taking a closer look at how to make the school campus on Lambs Lane more inviting for students and parents.

Monday night, the Hydraulic Community Advisory Committee hosted a preliminary discussion about the future of the campus that contains Albemarle High, Greer Elementary, Jack Jouett Middle, and Ivy Creek. School officials say the campus holds about 20 percent of the county's student population.

"Our normal capital improvement process looks school-by-school and not as four schools and 3,000 students and I think this is an opportunity to look at it and make it a more supportive environment for our kids," said school board member Kate Acuff.

The Boys & Girls Club will also be building a new facility on the campus. That is expected to open before the 2021 school year.
