CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - The Virginia football team was third in the ACC in both total defense and scoring defense last season.

They were ranked 20th and 21st nationally in those same categories.

UVa is expecting to have a very strong front seven this year.

The linebackers will be a big part, with guys like Jordan Mack, Charles Snowden, and Zane Zandier.

The 6-foot-3, 230-pound Zandier made eight starts as a sophomore last season.

He finished fifth on the team in tackles, with sixty-three, including five tackles for a loss.

Zandier is penciled in as the starter at inside linebacker, alongside Jordan Mack, where he should have an opportunity to continue to rack up the tackles.

"Ever since I was little, I love to hit, I love to tackle people," says Zandier.  "It's just something that I enjoy. Being able to flow to the ball is something that comes naturally, but also it's just something that I like to do."

Zandier is a native of Pittsburgh, and the Cavaliers will kickoff the season on the road at Pitt on August 31st.
