CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Things are getting back to normal at the University of Virginia's Carruthers Hall after the building was evacuated early Wednesday due to a suspicious package. 

Emergency crews were called out to the south end of the building on Emmet Street around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 14. Charlottesville police and fire crews assisted the UVA Police Department at the scene.

Authorities asked for people to remain clear of the area while they investigated.

Carruthers Hall was reopened at 10:50 a.m., and the scene was cleared about 10 minutes later.
