Trial Date Set for Greene Co. Supervisor Cox and Eppard
GREENE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - A trial date is now set in the felony cases against a Greene County supervisor and another man.
Sixty-two-year-old David Leigh Cox and 55-year-old Richard Wayne Eppard are accused of illegally farming on Greene County property for personal gain. Both men had a hearing in Greene Circuit Court early Tuesday, August 13. According to online court records, both men are currently facing one felony count of grand larceny.
The prosecutor claims the case involves taking hay and weeds from property located between Dairy Road and Watson Road.
A special grand jury indicted Cox and Eppard back on May 23. Both men turned themselves in the following day, and were later released on their own recognizance. Authorities have not released mugshots of either defendants, citing equipment malfunction.
Cox has served on the Greene County Board of Supervisors since 2011. His term ends at the end of the year.
A two-day trial is set to begin on December 16.
