ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - A new school year is right around the corner and one Charlottesville group is doing everything they can to make sure all students have the supplies they need.

The Dogwood Foundation held its third Big Give event at Greenbrier Office Park in Albemarle County Saturday, August 10. Twenty-five children received free backpacks stuffed with school supplies.

"A lot of kids, they go to school and they don't have their school supplies that are needed, that the school requests, and we just try to make it a lot easier for the kids to go to school with everything that they need," said Jenne Garrett.

Besides supplies, students were surprised with new bicycles and tennis shoes. Children also had a chance Saturday to enjoy a bounce house and check out equipment on a  fire truck.
