AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - On Wednesday, Project Grows shared its mission of improving the health of young people at the Augusta County Farmer's Market. There were free activities for kids, music, food trucks, and a raffle featuring goodies from participating vendors.

"When we're competing with food products and easily accessible foods or faster more convenient foods having local farmers that accept SNAP benefits and nutritional assistance programs it just makes it easier for community members to access this locally grown, wholesome food,” said John McCray, with Project Grows.

Project Grows is celebrating again on Saturday, August 10 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Waynesboro Farmer's Market.
