Charlottesville Activist Joins Group Calling for Twitter to Combat Hate Speech
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Charlottesville activist Don Gathers is joining the call for Twitter to take action when free speech becomes hate speech.
The Change the Terms coalition has called on Twitter and other social media platforms to denounce hatred and ban white supremacists.
Gathers said during a press call Wednesday, August 7, that much of the devastation caused by the 2017 Unite the Right rally was talked about and coordinated on sites like Twitter.
The coalition suggests Twitter follow similar steps as Facebook.
