UVA Linebacker Charles Snowden Primed for Big Junior Season
Virginia linebacker Charles Snowden had a breakout season last year as a sophomore leading the nation in pass breakups. He started all 13 games for Virginia.
Snowden is 6-foot-7 and now up to almost 240 pounds.
He was a basketball star in high school and only played two years of high school football.
Snowden showed last year at Virginia he could excel as a pass rusher on the edge. He proved he could also be a run stopper, but admits this season he needs to be consistently good on every play.
"I feel like last year there were some games where I made a highlight play, but play in and play out there were a lot of missed assignments that I can work on," says Snowden. "Just being more consistent and adding more big plays."
"His strength is really impressive," says UVa coach Bronco Mendenhall. "The gains that he made from the minute the season was over he knew what he had to do. He was an impressive space player and pass rusher. What he was not effective enough at was run defense. He took that personally and did a nice job addressing it."
