Court Hearings Set for Charlottesville Mother Accused of Murder
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - A mother accused of killing her toddler made a brief appearance before a Charlottesville judge Tuesday afternoon.
Twenty-six-year-old Nydia Love Lee appeared in Charlottesville Circuit Court via video conference Tuesday, August 6. She was appointed K. Jay Galloway as her attorney, and scheduled for a status hearing on Thursday, August 15. The judge also set another hearing for Monday, August 19.
Lee is accused of killing her 20-month-old child during the commission of child abuse on January 10. Authorities believe the death was accidental, and the Charlottesville Commonwealth's Attorney’s Office is being tight-lipped about the details surrounding the death.
The mother is charged with second-degree murder.
Neither Galloway nor Lee's family offered comments when leaving court.
