CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - In response to the mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio over the past 24 hours, the Charlottesville chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense organized a protest outside the Albemarle County Office building Sunday evening.

Protestors waved signs and shouted chants as cars rode by and honked in support

"Like everyone else - sick to the stomach, very angry about our elected officials doing nothing to change anything. We are so long past 'thoughts and prayers' and we are so overdue gun reform,” said Priya Mahadevan, organizer.

Protestors on Sunday advocated for common-sense gun reform, universal background checks and red flag gun laws.
