CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -  The Ronald McDonald House now has some more financial help thanks to a woman who stayed there more than 20 years ago.

Nichole Simpson stayed at the temporary home while her daughter was at the University of Virginia Medical Center in 1997.

While her daughter died, Simpson says the employee grants program through her employer, Pacific Life, is helping her pass on some of the comfort she felt at the house.

“To know where I was at in that moment in time and I know other families are at that same moment, to be able to allow them to have a place where they can just have a moment to themselves and regroup and find the strength for their child is heartfelt,” she said.

Simpson nominated the Ronald McDonald House in Charlottesville a little over a month ago. She presented a check for $5,000 Saturday.
