FORT MYERS, Fla. - Fort Myers was named as one of the most fun cities to live in the United States.

U.S. News and World Report looked at factors like access to parks, cultural attractions, restaurants, pro sports, shopping, concerts and the popularity of each location as a flight destination to come up with their rankings for the most fun cities in the country.

Fort Myers finished 15th, which is five spots ahead of Orlando.

Tamara Pigott, Lee County's tourism director, said this is a great way to attract more people to our area.

"Having a journalist come in, write an article about our area, has an enormous impact that will have millions of eyeballs all over the country, maybe even world, that will see this article," said Pigott.

The article praised Fort Myers' shopping options, concert venues, and the number of restaurants for its population.

"Restaurants are great, shopping is great. We were shopping today before we head out this afternoon," said Jess Brotherton.

However, some, like Sage Myers, said Fort Myers is still ranked too high.

"I agree for older generations, yeah, this would be a great place, but people from teens to 30s or 40s, I would disagree," said Myers. "There's not a whole lot. Yeah there's bars but who wants to just spend their time drinking?"

Fort Myers finished ahead of cities like New York, New Orleans, Washington D.C., Denver, Las Vegas, and Honolulu.
