GREENE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - Staff members at Greene County Public School (GCPS) will soon get some training on how to handle an emergency medical situation.

The Public Safety Foundation of Greene County presented seven Stop the Bleed kits to GCPS Wednesday, July 24. The kits include a tourniquet, dressing to control bleeding, protective gloves, and a compression bandage.

“It’s a kit that contains the necessities so that when the professionals get there, they’re aware and can take over and can save that life,” said GCPS Administrative Services Director Kyle Pursel.

Select staff, including school nurses, will receive training from rescue squad services.

Each school in Greene County, as well as the administrative building, will now have a Stop the Bleed kit.
